Giorgio Mammoliti emphasizes that his priority is to put a roof over peoples’ heads, not a lane under somebody’s bike

Giorgio Mammoliti, a prominent city councillor and candidate for mayor of Toronto, has announced his strong opposition to bike lanes in the city. His stance is informed by recent KTM polling data that shows most Toronto residents feel negatively impacted by bike lanes, with 63 per cent wanting the next mayor to evaluate and potentially remove them from major roads.

Mammoliti emphasized that his priority is to put a roof over people’s heads, not a lane under somebody’s bike. He cited his consistent voting record against bike lanes at City Hall and declared that, if elected, he would revisit every single bike lane in Toronto.

In addition to his opposition to bike lanes, Mammoliti also made clear his intentions for Eileen de Villa, the current Medical Officer of Health for Toronto Public Health. He stated, “Eileen de Villa, you know what my plans are for you.”

Regarding ActiveTO, Mammoliti expressed his intent to scrutinize the organization’s true agenda and decide on its future. He hinted that if decisive action is taken with Dr. de Villa, the same may apply to ActiveTO, ensuring that the interests of all Torontonians are represented and considered.

Giorgio also pledged to order a third-party investigation into all bike lanes approved and built during the COVID- 19 pandemic, seeking information about the costs associated with each project and the extent of consultation with families and residents.

Mammoliti’s strong stance against bike lanes and his commitment to prioritize housing over bike infrastructure resonates Torontonians who agree that dedicated bike lanes should be moved off major roadways to reduce congestion and minimize the impact on local businesses.

With his long-standing record of siding with Toronto residents on this issue, Mammoliti is determined to bring about the changes that the majority of citizens’ desire.
