U.S. Customs provides guidance for Canadian truckers working to supply British Colubia

U.S. Customs and Border Protection have announced a guidance document to help alleviate supply chains issues caused by flooding and mudslides in British Columbia:

 “Due to extreme weather conditions in British Columbia, Canada, that have caused flooding, landslides, road closures, and other supply chain disruptions Canadian domestic truck carriers may need to transit through the U.S. to reach destinations in Canada,” the November 18 release reads.

Stay home and don’t hoard, BC Premier Horgan tells residents; Fuels Association working with members

Of greater concern than the possible egg shortage is the idea that gas stations are running out of fuel, and trucks needed to deliver more fuel are still trapped in the network of roads which are closed by floods, mudslides and infrastructure damage.  

At the November 17 press conference, Transport Rob Fleming provided updates and status reports on the most critical transportation links. He thanked a variety of agencies including the BC Trucking Association for their work and support as the province deals with the unprecedented emergency.

Ontario to fund Bradford Bypass

Seven months ahead of the June, 2022 provincial election, Premier Doug Ford has announced that the Bradford Bypass will be fully funded.  

The Bradford Bypass is a new four-lane freeway connecting Highway 400 and Highway 404 in Simcoe County and York Region. This new corridor is expected to congestion on Highway 400 and existing east-west local roads. A Preliminary Design and environmental assessment in accordance with Ontario Regulation 697/21 for the project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by December 2022.

Will you get Ontario’s vaccine passport?

RWN posed these questions to truckers about Ontario’s vaccine passport: have you gotten it? Do you plan to get it? Do you plan to ignore the fact that it exists? How are you managing?

In a total of 40 responses, only two drivers replied that they planned to get the vaccine passport, including one who said “I believe I’m going to have to get it in order to do my job because I cross the border. From what I understand Biden will be insisting we get it as of January.

Ice road trucker reviews “Ice Road,” the movie

So I’m chilling out, surfing Netflix, and I find “Ice Road” staring Liam Neeson.

Over all, not a bad movie. Typical Liam adventure action flick.

Mind you, with over a decade of driving the Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territory, Yukon and Alaskan ice roads and oil patches (and after 16 years of long haul) I found “Ice Road” had too much “Hollywood” for me to watch at times.
