A Beck Taxi driver picked up an unexpected and unwanted passenger on December 28th: a baby yellow python.
The python was travelling in the purse of its owner and evidently slithered out somewhere along the route. When the young woman arrived home and realized her pet was missing, she called Beck in a panic and asked if the driver could check his vehicle to see if the python was there.

Following the December 16 accident it which it hit a tree, Whitby’s autonomous shuttle service “has been suspended until a full investigation has been completed,” says Durham Region Transit in a statement.
Additionally, the city of Toronto has taken its pilot shuttle out of service pending the results of the investigation: “The West Rouge Automated Shuttle Trial has been put on hold due to an incident in Whitby involving a similar service and due to current public health guidance regarding COVID-19,” reads the banner notice displayed on Toronto’s website.

On December 13th, Ontario will launch its pilot project to introduce “restricted towing zones” on sections of provincial highways in an effort to clear incidents such as collisions or vehicle breakdowns more safely and quickly.
“The ongoing violence in the towing industry is unacceptable, which is why our government is taking action to make the towing industry safer through strengthened oversight and standards,” said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation. “Ontario’s towing industry is a vital service on our roads and highways every day, and these actions will help to improve safety for all drivers.”

On September 1st, Premier Doug Ford announced that Ontario will soon require people to be fully vaccinated and provide “proof of their vaccination status,” otherwise known as a “Vaccine Passport” to access certain businesses and settings.
As of September 22, 2021, Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities, including indoor restaurants, gyms, sporting events, casinos and strip clubs. A similar program became effective in British Columbia on September 13th.
