Drug-testing service provider gunned down in Mississauga

“Today itโ€™s our family. Tomorrow, it could be yours”

The Mississauga businessman who operated G&G Trucking Solutions was gunned down in a “targetted shooting” near Tranmere and Derry on May 14th, his son writes.

While news media report that police have not confirmed the family’s depiction of events, Harjeet Singh Dhadda’s son Tanveer posted a heartfelt obituary on Facebook on May 15th. He believes his father was being extorted for $500,000 and when he refused to pay, he was killed.

“Yesterday, we experienced a devastating loss my father Harjeet Singh Dhadda a respected member of our community, was taken from us in a targeted shooting near Tranmere and Derry. He was a honest hardworking man, a devoted father, and a law-abiding Canadian citizen who served his community with dignity for over 25 years. He went beyond to help each and every person.

My father did not deserve this. He was not involved in anything criminal. He lived an honest life. Yet, those who came to harm him were armed with illegal weapons, operating with complete disregard for the law and seemingly without fear of consequences.

We trusted the authorities to protect us, but they have failed. Our office is located near the airport an area known for high police presence yet still, my father was gunned down in broad daylight. If such a violent act can take place here, what safety do everyday citizens truly have?

So today, I stand here not just for my family, but for every Canadian who feels helpless in the face of violence. We demand justice not just for my father, but for the safety of our entire community. We are calling on our leaders to take a hard look at the laws in this country.

When the system fails to protect us, every citizen should have the right to defend themselves. Itโ€™s time to have serious conversations around self-defence, legal reform, and the safety of law-abiding families. We do not want to see another family experience the pain we are living right now.

Today itโ€™s our family. Tomorrow, it could be yours.

We need change. We need justice. And we need it now.”

Thank you.
