USMCA just collapsed

And every Canadian is about to foot the bill

Mark Carney is panicking because the US refused to continue the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement.

For months, Washington laid out its terms loud and clear. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Carney was actively sabotaging the deal by cutting other side deals with China and saying Canada’s reliance on America is over. Now, the bill for Carney’s arrogance has come due.

The trade deal that covers at least 75 per cent of all Canadian exports to the US has been drastically changed. In the future, that agreement becomes a one-year renewable deal—unless the US decides to cancel it completely.

The effects on the Canadian economy will be devastating. Canadian businesses that export their goods to the US will be the hardest hit, and the over 2 million jobs they create will now be at risk. Businesses do not operate year-to-year. They need guaranteed access to their customers to hire staff and invest in new plants or processes. With only one-year access to the US market, all of that will be put on hold.

In addition, no foreign investment will come to Canada. Offshore companies want guaranteed access to the US market to invest millions or billions in new plants and start hiring workers. The President of Honda has said as much publicly. Not only that, but Canadian investors will also start to move to the US.

At the same time, the United States is meeting with Mexico for a third round of bilateral negotiations related to the USMCA. Canada has been missing in action, leaving the economy hanging by a thread while Carney plays globalist games.

Despite firing off multiple social media posts, Carney has completely dodged the issue. Because of his inaction, it was left to Flavio Volpe, the President of the Automotive Parts Association, to respond. And all he talked about was auto parts. For Canada, it is about a lot more than car parts.

This is also about US national security as well as trade. The US doesn’t want Chinese spies and infiltrators on its northern border. Yet, Canada just got its first shipment of Chinese cars that Premier Ford of Ontario calls “spy cars” for good reason. As well, China is accused of using slave labor to make the batteries in those cars. Finally, Canada recently signed an agreement with China to share police intelligence. Canada is cozying up to what the US Senate recently called the biggest enemy of the United States.

This won’t end well. Carney’s anti-American rhetoric has backfired big time. His game of chicken with Canada’s best friend and biggest trading partner was a huge mistake. And every Canadian will pay the price for many years to come.
