Public Order Emergency Commission Report to be released today

Commissioner Paul Rouleau will make a statement to the media; he will not take questions from the media and will not be available for any follow-up interviews

Feb 16, 2023 (Ottawa) – The Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC) will release its Report after it is tabled in Parliament, on February 17, 2023.

Members of the media are invited to attend a lock-up at 395 Wellington in Ottawa, where they will have access to an embargoed copy of the Commission’s report. The embargo will be lifted after the report is tabled in Parliament.

Journalists will be able to gain access to the lock-up room starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023. Copies of the report will be distributed on read-only tablets at 10 a.m. Commissioner Paul Rouleau will make a statement to the media in the Bambrick room after the report has been tabled in Parliament. He will not take questions from the media and will not be available for any follow-up interviews.

The embargo will be lifted once Commissioner Rouleau begins reading his statement, which will be streamed live on the commission’s website. Journalists will be given access to an electronic copy of the report and it will be posted on the Commission’s website at the same time.

Electronic transmissions may be monitored during the lock-up. Anyone found to be breaking the terms of the embargo will have their notes and the tablet assigned to them confiscated.
