Petition launched to “Stop NetZero Scam”

CFAE invites concerned citizens to sign

Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, has launched an online petition encouraging citizens to tell Ottawa to eliminate NetZero programs.

“Net Zero is a scam,” McTeague says. “Net Zero regulations… are a direct assault on affordable energy and an affordable way of life.”

Text from the petition reads:

What Is Net Zero?

Net Zero by 2050 is the federal plan to legally mandate that Canada either emits no greenhouse gases or offsets all emissions through carbon credits, carbon capture, and other costly schemes.

Why It’s a Scam

  • Hidden costs that nobody can explain: Dan McTeague highlights that the true cost is staggering — nearly $2 trillion for Canada alone — more than our entire GDP. Governments refuse to give credible estimates, instead saying “the cost of doing nothing is higher”
  • Green mandates that punish everyday Canadians: Carbon taxes, clean‑fuel rules, EV mandates, expensive building codes, and canceled pipelines add up. They drive up energy bills and raise the cost of living across food, transport, and more.
  • An economic trap, not environmental progress: Net Zero isn’t about a viable environmental plan — it’s about reshaping society while locking in corporate profits. As some videos argue, it’s a tool of global elites and greenwashing for industries that profit from offset credits and carbon markets.

How Net Zero Hurts Canadians

  • Makes energy, food, housing and transportation unaffordable.
  • Exports economic growth abroad while limiting Canadian pipelines and energy jobs.
  • Sacrifices our sovereignty and quality of life for global goals that don’t apply equally—China, India, and Russia face no mandate while Canada pays the price.”
