It’s not funny: Mr. Bean breaks silence on EV issues

Beloved comedian actually holds a degree in Electrical Engineering

“Sadly, keeping your old petrol car may be better than jumping to electric right now,” Rowan Atkinson wrote in a recent Telegraph article. Atkinson is better known around the globe as his comedic alter-ego, Mr. Bean.

When it comes to measuring emissions, “Government looks at only one part of the process: what comes out of the exhaust pipe,” Atkinson noted. “But if you zoom out a little bit and look at the whole process including manufacturing, it’s a different picture.”

Volvo recently released figures claiming that greenhouse gas emissions during production of an EV are 70 higher than when manufacturing a petrol one, points out show host Geoff of geoffbuyscars. He presented Atkinson’s opinions as part of his ongoing series on Electric Vehicles which often covers scathing bad news about the products.
