Food, music and family on Father’s Day
Families are invited to share food, music and political opinions at a community event sponsored by Toronto’s Taxi industry and the North Etobicoke Multicultural Association on June 18th. There is no admission charge to the dinner event, which will provide attendees with a chance to meet and speak with Mayoralty candidate Olivia Chow.
“This event is NOT a fundraiser,” co-organizer Abdul Mohamoud of Co-op Cabs told Taxi News. “We wanted to create an event for families to enjoy multicultural food and music – all kinds of cultures, including South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Caribbean, Canadian – we realized after we set the date that is is Father’s Day.
“But that’s OK – we encourage everyone to bring their Fathers to the event, too!”
As an active member of Toronto’s Taxi industry, Mohamoud says his group sent a letter and a questionnaire to the top six candidates in the current Mayoralty race; only Olivia Chow replied, he notes.
“This will be an evening to gather, discuss and hear from the leading candidate.”
