Chrystia Freeland stays at Transport
Rumour that Freeland would be kicked out of Cabinet untrue
Canada’s current Transport Minister Chrystia Freeland (UniversityโRosedale) has been retained in both of her previous portfolios, Transport and Internal Trade as part of today’s Cabinet swearing-in.
Freeland, who froze Truckers’ bank accounts during the 2022 Freedom Convoy, resigned as Justin Trudeauโs finance minister and deputy prime minister in December 2024 as part of a caucus revolt that eventually led to Trudeauโs own resignation.ย
Freeland was first appointed Canadaโs federal Minister of Transport on March 17, marking a return to cabinet following the swearing-in of new Liberal prime minister Mark Carney.ย
