Accessible fund appeal period over
“Payments will be sent out shortly,” staff say
There’s good news for TTL plate operators who are waiting for the 2023 Accessible Fund payments. However, for operators who planned to appeal their decision but had not yet filed, the appeal window closed on September 9th.
Taxi News inquired on September 5th as to the whereabout of the Accessible Fund cheques, which drivers were expecting over the summer months. On September 9th, Toronto staff replied by email, stating, “The appeal period ends today for those with issues with their submissions, and staff anticipate the payments will be sent out shortly.”
Last year, Toronto distributed $1.2 million of the $3.6 million it collected in per-trip fees from Vehicle for Hire drivers. Uber alone paid almost $16 million dollars in trip fees in 2023.
