Update: PSAC, Treasury Board reach tentative agreement but border crossing still backed up

While the Public Service Alliance of Canada reports that it has reached a tentative agreement with Canada’s Treasury Board negotiators, reports from Sarnia and Windsor indicate that trucks trying to enter Canada remain lined up for several kilometers on the American side of the border.
“I’ve been here since 3:50am and I’m still 6.3 kilometers from the exit,” reported driver Shane LeBrun at 9am August 7. LeBrun is attempting to cross the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor.
Whether this situation will be alleviated today as a result of the tentative agreement being reached, remains to be seen.
UPDATE: At 10am August 7th, reports are the the lineup at the Bluewater Bridge on the Port Huron side have been cleared.

“After more than three years without a contract and unprecedented mobilization by FB members across Canada, the PSAC-CIU bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with Treasury Board and CBSA late Friday, August 6 following a 36-hour, round-the-clock, marathon negotiation session.
PSAC-CIU’s bargaining team unanimously recommends ratification of the new agreement.”
