Ontario, LCBO agree to “early mediation” of new collective agreement

The collective agreement between the government pf Ontario and the union representing LCBO workers expired on March 31, 2021, and a new agreement is currently being negotiated.

In a message to members posted May 6th, Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says, “After eight days at the bargaining table, it’s clear that the employer needs some outside intervention before it begins taking seriously our vision of a better LCBO…which is why we suggested several days of “early mediation.”

May 6 and 7 are scheduled as early mediation days, with May 8 and 9 scheduled as backup days with the mediator.

At time of posting, Ontario has not released any statement.
