Toronto posts registration links for five sessions
Dates and times for the stakeholder consultations sessions being held to receive feedback have now been posted. Interested parties should register to attend.
Key focus areas for the consultation include:
– Improving accessible on-demand vehicle-for-hire services
– Addressing inactive taxicab licences
– Gathering feedback on options to limit the number of vehicle-for-hire and private transportation company driver licences

From Toronto’s website June 5th: “The Licensing of Vehicles-for-Hire Bylaw regulates the licensing of taxicabs, limousines, private transportation companies and their drivers. The City is conducting a comprehensive review of the industry to respond to several Council directives from 2021-2023.
The purpose of the review is to update the bylaw and develop a framework for the vehicle-for-hire sector that balances public policy priorities, including customer service, economic impacts on drivers, impacts on public transit and congestion, and equity and accessibility.
As part of the review, the City is seeking to understand the challenges of the vehicle-for-hire regulatory framework, in order to align the needs of industry and consumers. To understand these challenges, the City will be consulting with the public and industry on specific aspects of the bylaw.
Residents and industry members can provide feedback at five virtual and in-person public consultations from June 12 to 25, 2024.”
