TLDA makes recommendations to VFH Review

1. Cap/pause on all commercials licenses like Vehicle for Hire (VFH) and Private Transportation Companies (PTC) for at least the next five  years. Toronto should follow New York system: select 10,000 to 12,000 PTC vehicles and issue some type of city plate for accountability. Taxi, Limousine and PTC altogether around 18,000 are best for city future safe and clean environment for Torontonians in transportation industries.

2. City must boost up Tariff/ fare Rate list of Taxi/ limo 20 per cent due to carbon Taxi fuel prices going up, and also bind Uber to boost rates and pay that extra money to drivers. Since 2016, City of Toronto Uber drivers have not received any fare increase, while the Greater Toronto Airport Authority has raised fares twice.

3. Arrange one type of insurance for all three sectors Taxi, Limo and rideshare drivers, all three sectors have commercial insurances or private $2,000,000 to $3,000,000 million in liability insurance. There must be arranged one type of insurance for all three sectors and city councils have power to take this initiative.

4. Vehicles should be allowed to operate eight years instead of seven years, because due to PTC 66,000 vehicles availabilities and shortage of work, drivers have not finished paying back their banks loans, etc.

5.Downtown core traffic is very bad. Parking enforcement should not issue tickets to Taxi/limo drivers when involved in pick up or drop off clients.
