Rideshare driver arrested in sexual assault

Man arrested in sexual assault investigation, Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue West area

The Toronto Police Service is notifying the public of an arrest made in a Sexual Assault investigation in a release posted on August 23rd.

It is alleged that:

  • on Saturday, August 9, 2025, sometime after midnight, the accused was hired by the victim and a friend of the victim, through a ride share platform
  • after dropping the friend off, the accused offered to drive the victim home for free
  • during the ride, the accused sexually assaulted the victim prior to dropping her off
  • the victim sustained no injuries

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Nishu Bansal, 28, of Brampton was arrested and charged with:

  1. Sexual Assault

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 106.

Police are concerned there may be additional victims.
