Police identify murdered cabbie and ask for dash cam, surveillance footage from area

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 8:48 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for a taxi cab that had collided with a fence in the Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.

Officers arrived to find the cab driver alone in the vehicle. He was unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to hospital via emergency run but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in hospital.

The victim has been identified as Christopher Jung, 73, of Toronto.

A man wearing dark clothing was seen running away from the area.

Anyone with dash cam footage or surveillance footage are asked to contact homicide investigators.
