No congestion pricing: Sarkaria

“We will never look at anything to do with congestion pricing”

Ontario will not consider congestion pricing for downtowns, Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria told media and guests at a press conference on November 7, 2024.

At a event focused on the positive news that repairs to the Gardiner Expressway are four months ahead of schedule, Sarkaria took a reporter’s question on the possibility of imposing “congestion pricing” on drivers.

“We will never look at anything to do with congestion pricing,” Sarkaria stated plainly. “The cost of living in this province is at an all-time high. Everything this government has done is to put money back into the pockets of people.

“I can totally see someone like Bonnie Crombie coming up with something like that – she loves come up with ways to tax people,” Sarkaria added.
