The Liberals have regained the riding of Terrebonne by a single vote, according to Elections Canada.

The seat, initially called for the Liberals on election night, was declared a Bloc Québécois win earlier this month following a post-election vote validation process. However, Elections Canada’s chief electoral officer announced last week a judicial recount. In the Thursday, May 8th recount, the Liberals won by a single vote.

This provides the Liberals with 169 votes. 172 votes are needed for a majority.

Terrebonne is one of four ridings across the country undergoing judicial recounts, which are required when the margin of victory is less than 0.1 per cent of votes cast. To date, the Liberals have won every recount.

Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Stéphane Perrault announced on May 9th that there will be a judicial recount of the votes in the electoral district of Milton East–Halton Hills South (Ontario).

Following a validation of the results in the electoral district of Milton East–Halton Hills South, the difference between the two leading candidates was 29 votes. A judicial recount must take place if the difference between the number of votes cast for the candidate with the most votes and the number of votes cast for any other candidate is less than one one-thousandth (1/1000) or 0.1% of the valid votes cast.

The recount will be conducted by Justice Leonard Ricchetti of the Superior Court of Ontario, district of Milton East–Halton Hills South, and will begin on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the 400 Steeles Avenue East, Milton, Ontario. The results of the recount will be published on Elections Canada’s website after the recount is completed.

There will also be a judicial recount of the votes in the electoral district of Windsor–Tecumseh–Lakeshore (Ontario).

Following a validation of the results in the electoral district of Windsor–Tecumseh–Lakeshore, the difference between the two leading candidates was 77 votes.

The recount will be conducted by Justice Ross Macfarlane of the Superior Court of Ontario, district of Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore, and will begin on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 13300 Tecumseh Road East, Tecumseh, Ontario. The results of the recount will be published on Elections Canada’s website after the recount is completed.
