GoFundMe has seized the $10 million contributed to the Freedom Truckers Convoy.

In a statement posted to Medium February 4, GoFundMe states “We now have evidence from law enforcement that the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity.

“Following a review of relevant facts and multiple discussions with local law enforcement and city officials, this fundraiser is now in violation of our Terms of Service (Term 8, which prohibits the promotion of violence and harassment) and has been removed from the platform.”

Road Warrior News has contacted GoFundMe to request specific data on the incidents provided to them by police including Incident or Report numbers and the dates and locations of these incidents. At time of this posting, GoFundMe has not provided any response. RWN will update if and when a response is received.

How to request your refund from GoFundMe

Donors who contributed money to the Convoy and who want a refund from GoFundMe can request a refund by visiting this link. GoFundMe has not yet clarified as to whether donors will also receive back the 15 per cent “tip” GoFundMe adds automatically unless donors decline it.
