Elections interference in Canada – inquiry resumes

Public hearings for the Foreign Interference Commission will resume on September 16, 2024, and continue until October 25, 2024.

Factual hearings will take place from Monday, September 16 to Wednesday, October 16, 2024.  Policy consultations will take place from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25, 2024.  The hearings will begin each day at 9:30 and run until 4:30 pm.   The Commission will not sit on September 23, September 30 and October 14.

All of the hearings will be held at 395 Wellington in Ottawa.

The Government of Canada created the Foreign Interference Commission in September 2023 to respond to concerns about foreign interference in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.  The Commission released an Initial Report on May 3, 2024.  In the second stage of its work, the Commission will assess the federal government’s capacity to detect, deter, and counter foreign interference.  The Commission intends to deliver its final report, which will include findings and recommendations, by December 31, 2024.
