Draft of new Conditions of Permit to be circulated this week: GTAA

The Greater Toronto Airport Authority Ground Transportation division has provided the following information to Taxi News:

“To All Licence/Permit Holders:

The GTAA would like to advise all Taxicab and Limousine Permit/Licence holders that on December 5 there was productive session with the consultative panel representatives regarding the update to the current Conditions of Permit. The GTAA has taken back all of the panel’s valuable feedback for further consideration, including the potential removal of the 25% driving requirement.

It remains our intent to circulate the revised draft of the modernized Conditions of Permit to the industry the week of December 18. The modernized Conditions of Permit will go into effect 60 days after the revised draft is circulated – the effective date will be clearly communicated to the industry. In addition, the GTAA will also share the November 1 and December 5 presentations that captured all of the feedback received to date with the industry at that time.

Thank you”

On December 13th, Taxi News published comments from some airport drivers dismayed about the changes being proposed and the stakeholder consultation process on changes to date.
