September 13th deadline for Truck training survey

WTFC, T4SH ask your feedback on Ontario’s review of commercial driver training

Updated September 12th, 10:00am: Originally published on September 5th, this article has been republished September 12th with a new headline.

The Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada (WTFC) and Truckers for Safer Highways (TFSH) has posted an online survey to collect Truckers’ feedback on what should be included in Ontario’s Entry Level Training standards.

On May 16, 2024, the government of Ontario announced that it would “lead a comprehensive review of commercial driving training and hold provincewide stakeholder roundtables to seek industry and public feedback on measures to improve road safety.”

In June, the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario TSAO invited industry members to form a stakeholder group in order to create a white paper for discussion, which it will submit to Ontario’s consultation. WTFC and TFSH have created this survey as part of this consultation.

The survey asks for feedback on questions including:

“-Should there be graduated licensing for commercial drivers (similar to the G class)?

-Do you believe you should have a valid Class G for a year before you can obtain your commercial license?

-What essential skill do you believe was missing from your truck driver training that would have been most beneficial to your career?

-Do you think mentoring should be a mandatory requirement?”

There is a section to allow respondents to write their own additional thoughts, and an option to receive the results of the survey when it is complete.

The survey is open until Sept 13th at midnight.
