Vaccine choice shouldn’t lead to unemployment: MPP Roman Baber
On October 5, 2021, Independent Member of Provincial Parliament Roman Baber intends to introduce a “Jobs & Jabs” Bill, for passing by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. If passed, the Jobs & Jabs Bill will prevent employers from firing or penalizing employees because of their vaccination status or for refusing to disclose their vaccination status.
“Lockdowns created a mental health pandemic,” Baber says. “If Doug Ford’s ‘first priority was the health and safety of all Ontarians,’ he would lift the lockdown. Instead, his first priority is re-election. The ‘experts’ Doug is listening to are pollsters.”
However, Ontario’s Solicitor General Sylvia Jones maintains that “As we continue to see cases of COVID-19 in our communities, we must keep up the fight against the transmission of this virus and its variants to create a safer environment for ourselves, our families and our communities. The best defense against COVID-19 is getting a vaccine and encouraging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated too.”
At the launch of the Ontario’s Vaccine Passport on September 22nd, Premier Doug Ford was asked, “What criteria will you use to lift the Vaccine Passport?”
Ford replied, “I will rely on the advice of Public Health Officials….I cannot give you a date.” Ford did not provide any further example of “criteria.”
Baber is asking Ontarians to sign this petition:
WHEREAS the Covid-19 Pandemic and the Doug Ford Lockdowns caused an unprecedented hardship to millions of working Ontarians;
WHEREAS over the next few weeks and months, countless Ontarians will lose their jobs because of a personal choice;
WHEREAS most Ontarians and all Recognized Parties agree that vaccination is a choice;
WHEREAS employers should be encouraged to accommodate employees;
WHEREAS no Ontarian should lose his or her job because of a personal health choice;
WE the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
To immediately reconvene the Legislature and pass the Jobs and Jabs Act, 2021.”
