Truckers for Safer Highways: A Call to Strengthen Canada’s Economy Through Safe & Reliable Infrastructure

As Canadians prepare to cast their votes, Truckers for Safer Highways calls on all political leaders to recognize a fundamental truth: supporting truck drivers is supporting Canada’s economy.

At a time when supply chains are stretched and economic stability is critical, our highways are the lifelines that keep goods moving—but they are failing those who depend on them. Across the country, rest areas are closing, parking is scarce, and crumbling infrastructure forces drivers into unsafe conditions. This isn’t just a trucking issue—it’s an economic crisis in the making.

Every closed rest stop, every overcrowded truck parking zone, and every neglected highway puts Canada’s economy at risk. Without safe, accessible places for drivers to rest, delays multiply, fatigue increases, and the flow of essential goods—from food to fuel to medical supplies—slows down. That hurts every Canadian.

We need urgent federal investment in Canadian-owned and operated rest areas designed to meet the needs of professional drivers.

This means:
– Expanding & modernizing truck stops with secure parking, clean facilities, and reliable amenities.
– Incentivizing Canadian businesses—like Petro Pass, and Esso—to invest in homegrown infrastructure.
– Partnering with provinces to ensure highways and rest areas are built to support trade, not hinder it.

This isn’t just about truckers. It’s about keeping Canada’s economy moving. When drivers have safe places to stop, goods arrive on time, businesses thrive, and consumers don’t pay the price for inefficiency.

The next federal government must act. Investing in rest areas is investing in Canada’s future.

Truckers for Safer Highways stands ready to work with policymakers to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient supply chain—for all Canadians.
