Toronto letter officially advises Taxi rate increase

Good afternoon Taxi News,

We are writing to advise you that at its meeting on May 11, Toronto City Council approved a $1 increase to all taxi cab fares to respond to the rising cost of fuel prices. Beginning May 12, the initial fare for every trip has increased from $3.25 to $4.25.  The fare increase will be in effect until City staff have had the opportunity to complete a comprehensive fare review which will include opportunities for industry and public consultations.

Attached you will find a sample letter that was sent to all taxi owners and operators on May 13 that provides information about the fare increase.
