Ottawa Police sending out non-ticket, non-legal proceeding letters
In what appears to be a brand-new tactic developed to persuade Canadians to “change your driving habits,” the Ottawa Police Service is sending letters to drivers about whom there were complaints during the recent Freedom Convoy 2022 event in February.
“I live six hours away from Ottawa,” letter receipient Jan Hoeflaken told Road Warrior News. “It arrived in the mail yesterday morning.”
The letter, printed on letterheaded and ostensibly funded by taxpayer dollars, took pains to note “This letter is not a ticket, and will not result in legal proceedings.” However, it goes on to note, “We would like to make you aware of the incident and trust you will take the necessary measures to change your driving habits in order to keep yourself and everyone around you safe.”
