Ottawa delays VFH by-law review
Council approves 9 month delay
The City of Ottawa will delay the 10-year review of its Vehicle-for Hire By-law by-law past the scheduled 2026 deadline. Council voted 21-3 to approve the delay in order to provide staff with time and resources needed to develop a Vulnerable Social Infrastructure By-law.
“Staff assess that delaying the preliminary work for the Vehicle-For-Hire By-law review is necessary to provide staff capacity to undertake the development of a Vulnerable Social Infrastructure By-law by the end of Term, if directed by Council,” reads the memo submitted May 26th and considered at the May 28th Ottawa Council meeting.
“Staff do not anticipate that the delay will have a significant impact on the overall review of the Vehicle-For-Hire By-law. The entire review of the Vehicle-for Hire By-law could be accommodated next Term, as described below.”
