Convoy’s GoFundMe is NOT frozen, contrary to media reports: “We are just looking into it” 680 News says
Around 11am Tuesday January 25th, 680 News in Toronto reported that GoFundMe had seized the assets of the Freedom Convoy 2022 until organizers provided more transparency on how the funds would be spent.
However, after that 680 news report and at the time of this posting, the GoFundMe account is not frozen and is still accepting donations. Freedom Convey organizers confirm they are continuing to complete paperwork requested by GoFundMe.
GoFundMe’s media office has provided no statement to Road Warrior News despite requests on January 24th and 25th.
When contacted, 680’s newsroom stated “we are just looking into it, we will clarify it.” As to whether 680 would offer a correction, the woman who answered the phone replied “I’ve just arrived. We are just looking into it.”
MooseJaw Today apparently picked up the CP story with comment from GoFundMe, also mid-morning on January 25th. The story quoted Rachel Hollis, identified as a spokesperson for the fundraising platform.
At noon, the site is live and functioning with donations of over $4,431,930.
