Australia sends SOS, asks the world to protest December 4th: “We need help”
Australian citizens protesting the establishment of dictatorship and a police state are pleading with the international community to take up their cause.
The group Reignite Democracy Australia is asking for an “international SOS from Australia” event on December 4th. “On this date we call upon politicians, international leaders and all concerned citizens to respond to our SOS. Note that whatever tyranny and oppression you see in Australia is destined for your country if we aren’t able to stop it. It seems evident Australia is ‘ground zero’,” its press release reads.
Australia’s initial protests against vaccine mandates were organized by the nation’s professional truck drivers, referred to as “Truckies.” The Truckies’ August 31 protest did not shut down the nation as had been hoped; however, it provided the impetus for many other groups and individuals to begin pushing back against government. Recent street protests include one with half a million citizens in Melbourne, and 350,000 in Sydney.
In a development described as “terrifying” by citizens, the Australian state of Victoria passed a bill which provides its leader Dan Andrews with virtually unlimited “emergency powers” on December 2nd.
The purpose of the Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) is to insert into the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 provisions which would confer additional, extraordinary, and permanent powers to the state government to enable it to respond to pandemics.
According to Australia’s Institute of Public Affairs, the Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021 in effect gives Daniel Andrews dictatorial powers. It would allow the Premier and his officials to:
• Impose indefinite lockdowns even if there were no cases of the virus in the country;
• Imprison people without trial;
• Arrest people because of their religion, political beliefs, or ethnic background.
The bill passed with amendments on December 2nd.
