Taxi industry members who are following the Metro Taxi vs City of Ottawa lawsuit can access current updates and changes on a special web page dedicated to the case.

The “Metro Taxi vs City of Ottawa” public service announcement will sit in the upper right hand corner of Taxi News until the case is finally decided. Taxi News donated the space in 2025 to assist industry members looking for information.

Case updates, news releases and links to court documents can all be found on the site. The “FAQ” (frequently asked questions) section covers questions such as “When will I be paid?” and “How will damages be determined?”

The Statement of Claim in this historic case was filed in 2017, and it received certification in 2018.

On May 13, 2024 Superior Court Justice Marc Smith found, among other things, that “Uber was a bandit taxi company” and “Ottawa was negligent” in not enforcing its own by-laws.
