The best of what it means to be Canadian

As I look back on our incredible journey during the Freedom Convoy to Ottawa in 2022, I am overwhelmed with emotions that words alone can’t begin to describe. Being given the role of Road Captain for the Toronto East portion of the convoy was an incredible honour that I hold dear. One that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It was a time that showed me the very best of what it means to be Canadian.

To all the brave and resilient truck drivers who traveled countless miles from across Canada and the United States, you were the heartbeat of this movement. You left your families and livelihoods behind, navigating long roads and harsh winter conditions, fueled by something greater than yourselves—a love for freedom, unity, and the values we all hold dear. Without you, this movement would not have been possible. You carried more than your cargo; you carried the hopes, dreams, and voices of countless Canadians who felt ignored, unheard, and dismissed.

To every single person who came out in support, standing on bridges, highways, and in the blistering cold, your presence lit a fire that warmed our spirits even in the most frigid temperatures. I’ll never forget the sight of communities coming together. Strangers sharing meals, offering hot coffee, blankets, and even hugs. It wasn’t just about the protest; it was about the humanity that united us. Families stood shoulder to shoulder, children bundled up in layers, waving flags with pride. Your courage, your sacrifices, and your unshakable determination reminded us of what we were fighting for.

To those who donated, whether it was food, fuel, money, or simply your time, your generosity kept us moving. I cannot tell you how many times your kindness brought tears to my eyes. (including now) From small towns to big cities, the outpouring of support reminded me that we were not alone. We stood together as one, bound by a shared belief that we deserved better. A better government, better communication, and better respect for the everyday people who keep this country running!

The amount of dedication I witnessed was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. There were phone calls, interviews, messages from every corner of Canada and beyond, and endless conversations with police, media, and local officials. Every single interaction taught me something new about the strength and heart of this nation. This wasn’t just a convoy of trucks; it was a convoy of people, of hope, of pride, and of a collective voice that said, “We will no longer be silenced.”

I know this journey was not without its challenges. Many of us faced criticism, misunderstandings, and sacrifices. But through it all, we stood firm, rooted in a deep belief that what we were doing mattered—that it meant something to every Canadian who felt they had no other way to be heard. For weeks, we endured the freezing cold and stood together in a way that transcended politics and divisions. It didn’t matter where you came from, what language you spoke, or what your background was, we were united in our love for freedom and fairness.

This wasn’t about hate or anger; it was about hope. It was about showing the world what Canadians are capable of when we come together peacefully and with purpose. It was about standing up for the farmers, the truckers, the small business owners, and the countless others who felt left behind.

To every single person who showed up, supported us, or even quietly cheered us on from home, thank you. Thank you for reminding me, and the world of what it means to be Canadian. Thank you for your strength, your warmth, your kindness, and your gratitude.

This movement wasn’t perfect, but it was real. It was raw. It was powerful. It showed that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit cannot be extinguished. We stood up not just for ourselves, but for future generations!

I truly believe that together, we left an indelible mark on history.

To those who felt we deserved better from our government, know that your voices were heard. They echoed through the streets of Ottawa and across this great nation. I will never forget what we accomplished together, and I will carry those memories with me forever.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for standing beside us, for believing in something greater, and for reminding us all of the power of unity.

With eternal gratitude,

#honkhonk! 🛻🇨🇦
