Taxi, Uber prices should be identical: Khamseh

None of the Councillors who voted to re-write Toronto’s Taxi by-laws for Uber in 2016 are taking any responsibility for breaking the industry, Taxi operator Behrouz Khamseh told Executive Committee on February 29th.

“You broke the industry,” Khamsah reiterated. “I have spoken to police about the number of sexual assaults that take place in rideshare….no one even talks about it.

“One thing is for certain, fares for Taxi and Uber should be the same,” he noted, expressing an opinion held by other speakers during the meeting. Khamseh also expressed concerns that any staff report coming forward in November will not be the final answer: “You will have to go back and figure out what rates to charge. Another report.”
