“Know Human Trafficking” newest rig wrap to be unveiled today in Whitby

Big Rig Wraps Transport Truck Advertising, geekspeak Commerce and the Ontario Truck Training Academy will unveil the latest rig wrap to support the Know Human Trafficking Truck Advertising Campaign in Whitby today at 2pm at Abilities Centre 1 Jim Flaherty Drive. The event open to everyone.

Brian Pattison of NATT; Shelley Walker WTFC; and Samantha Clarke KHT at the unveiling of the first rig wrap in Ontario’s north in February, 2023.

Know Human Trafficking launched the rig-wrapping campaign as a tool to help raise public awareness about human trafficking and to educate people about how they can help those at risk.

As this form of modern-day slavery is on the rise all around Canada and especially in Ontario, supporters believe it is essential to deliver a consistent message to keep people informed and engaged with the cause.

“It’s absolutely heart-wrenching,” Samantha Clarke of Know Human Trafficking told RWN earlier this year. “I’m a mother, a sister, and an aunt – it is just heartbreaking to know about the situations girls as young as 12 can get caught up in.”

Brian Pattison, whose Northern Academy Transportation Training wrapped the first rig in Ontario’s north, told RWN that supporting anti-human trafficking efforts “just seems like the right thing to do.

“We have friends and family in our own community who are First Nations, which unfortunately seems to  be a target group for traffickers. I know families who have lost members to human trafficking. It’s a heinous crime; if our part to help fight against it is to pull a trailer that’s wrapped to raise awareness, that seems like a very small thing to do.”

In addition to wrapping their training trailer, NATT also includes training on what human trafficking is; how to recognize it; and how to help stop it as part of their driver training program.

“Every one of our students graduates knowing how to recognize human trafficking.”
