Ontario Premier Doug Ford made an election stop in Timmins, Ontario on May 8th.
Ford announced that if re-elected, the Ontario PC Party will invest $74 million to rebuild Highway 101 through Timmins, rebuilding the section from Kamiskotia Road in the west to the Porcupine Ontario Northland Rail crossing in the east.
Local media, however, appeared skeptical of the announcement and pointed out that Ford waited until just before the election to announce it.
Charlie Angus, NDP MPP for Timmins-North Bay, tweeted “This is classic Doug Ford.”
This is classic Doug Ford. The only people speaking up for the Northlander since the Liberal government killed the Northlander were the NDP. https://t.co/xbgne9DTzo
