VFH consultations cost $30,000
Staff report expected in early December
Gladki Planning Associates bid $30,442.20 including Harmonized Sales Tax to conduct consultations to inform Toronto’s report on the Vehicle for Hire (VFH) industry.
City staff are expected to report to Executive Committee and then City Council on vehicles-for-hire by the end of 2024. The report is part of an ongoing review of the framework and bylaw and will respond to several outstanding Council directives from 2021 to 2023.
Through a Freedom of Information request submitted by Taxi News earlier in 2024, information on the pricing and details of the work was obtained.
“Vendor to plan, lead and execute 5 vehicle-for-hire consultations including: 3 industry consultations, 2 public consultations on accessible vehicle-for-hire services. In addition, the vendor is to plan, lead, and execute 3 focus groups related to accessible vehicle for hire services,” stated the Request for Proposals issued by the City of Toronto on March 6, 2024.
The “Guiding Principles” provided to Gladki included:
- Protect public safety and consumer protection
- Enable choice within Toronto’s transportation sector
- Create opportunity for fair competition
